Carpet Cleaning

There are Five general principles of carpet cleaning. We have summarized our services according to these guidelines.

Preparation

Prior to beginning our service, we prepare your home by protecting your environment. We begin by putting our equipment on drop cloths. We set up wall corner guards, which will prevent hoses from damaging paint or wall coverings. A DoorJam, which is a pillowy padded vinyl, is attached to your entry door.

1. Dry soil removal

Dry soil represents 60-80% of the foreign soil in your carpet. We use 3 separate processes to remove the dry soil. Dirt is abrasive and as traffic walks on the carpet the dirt wears away the carpet in addition to being ground into the carpet piles. The best way to remove this dry soil is through dry vacuuming.

Carpets are vacuumed with our heavy-duty commercial vacuum cleaner. It is necessary to repeat the process more than once by main entry doors and in high traffic areas. (The most soil is removed when you are pulling the vacuum back toward yourself.)

We hand vacuum the areas that we are unable to reach.

For carpets that need the most thorough vacuuming, we use our pile lifter. This impressive machine produces extraordinary results and is the ultimate in dry soil removal. It's an extremely heavy-duty vacuum (67 lbs) that removes deep down dirt, lifts, combs and brushes the carpet pile. It requires a physically fit person not only to carry it but to also use. The vacuum has 2 separate motors and is able to clean out heavily matted carpets. With its vegetable brush, it is also gently and effective on most carpets.

Finally, we hand vacuum the areas that we are unable to reach with our commercial vacuum and pile lifter.

2. Soil Suspension

Soil suspension is the term used to describe the process of separating the soil from the carpet fiber that could not be removed with dry vacuuming. This can include soil from food, liquid spills-such as coffee, soft drinks or fruit drinks, grease, various soil from pets, children and shoes, as well as a host of other things.

There are 4 steps to soil suspension:

Pre-conditioners - are cleaning agents used to separate and suspend the soil from the carpet fiber. The soil in the carpet could be anywhere between a couple days old to several years. The cleaning process includes heat; agitation and time which all help the pre-conditioners loosen the soil from the carpet fibers. These pre-conditioners can be compared to the detergents you use to wash your cloths.

Heat - is an important component of the cleaning process. Our state of the art equipment is capable of heating water to 245 degrees. Although the water temperature decreases by the time it comes into contact with the carpet, typically, the temperature of our pre-conditioner is quite hot when it comes into contact with the carpet fiber. This helps separate the soil from the carpet fiber.

Agitation - is a key component to soil suspension. Most cleaning processes (i.e. a washing machine) spend a considerable amount of time on this function. We use a rotary carpet brush which provides significant agitation to the carpet. We also use a an agitating brush. Both processes distribute the pre-conditioner into the carpet pile and help separate the soil from the carpet fiber.

Time - is essential after agitation. We let the pre-conditioners set for 10-15 minutes. This lets the pre-conditioners work their magic and separate the soil from the carpet fibers.

3. Soil Extraction

After the soil is suspended from the carpet fiber, it is critical that it is removed from the carpet. There is no debate that a high-end truck mount machine is the best method for soil extraction. The water pressure, heat and vacuum power are overwhelming compared to any other technique.

Our extraction tools, including our Hydramaster RX 20, Rotary Dry Master, Wand and Stair Tool are state of the art and extract the maximum amount of soil possible. Your carpets are left clean, soft and free of residue that can attract dirt in the future.

4. Application of Carpet Protectors and Grooming

Protectors are applied to carpets when they are manufactured. Protectors are worn away due to the abrasion carpet receives. Protectors help prevent stains from setting into your carpet. After we finish applying the protector, we groom your carpet. Grooming helps distribute the protectors and can straighten the carpet pile which speeds up the drying process. Additionally grooming can eliminate cleaning tool patterns and break up any distortion.

5. Drying

Drying times for our hot water extraction process are dependent on many factors including; amount of soiling, the equipment used, the temperature, humidity and air circulation. Using the best equipment available, we can provide you with the shortest drying times possible.

Our Rotary Drymaster is capable of extracting up to 85% of the water in the extraction stage. We can apply air movers which can greatly speed up drying. If you choose our elite service, we will not leave your house until your carpets are dry.
